Some words on Shabbat – Hinei El Yeshuati

As we are on the brink of the beginning of Shabbat some words to reflect on for tomorrow night at Havdalah…
Hinei El yeshuati, evtah v’lo efhad,
ki azi v’zimrat Yah Adonai, vay’hili lishua.…
With these powerful words we begin the Havdalah service to conclude Shabbat.
In this phrase from the Prophet Isaiah we conclude our experience of Shabbat, a foretaste of the Messianic kingdom, by firstly acknowledging that it is G-d that is “yeshuati” (my salvation).
It is no mistake that the One to fully embody G-d’s salvation work was named Yeshua, even Him who is our righteous Messiah.
The One in whom G-d’s hand so mightily dwelt, the One in whom G-d’s love was manifest so completely within the created order was the very One, who was named Yeshua, G-d’s Redeemer, our Messiah, as Yochanan would say:
This is the greatest thing about Messianic Judaism, we know the Messiah.
He is not just one that we pray about and long for (of which we should earnestly await His glorious return), but we have the reality, the very indwelling experience of our Messiah in our midst.
This hit me so clearly and deeply while praying the Amidah on the last Rosh Chodesh where there is the added prayer for the remembrance of Messiah, Son of David.
Rather than as a figure of speculation, as among others longing for Messiah, we know who the Messiah is and we today can live in the new life that only He provides as the very agent of G-d’s salvation.
We can live now basking in the knowledge that the long awaited Messiah has come and He will return to rule and reign as is His due, because He is the great Son of David and the One to take the eternal throne as King Messiah and L-rd of L-rds.
This is the Messiah that fully enlivens us as MESSIANIC Judaism.
He is Yeshua, our living and coming King Messiah.
May we live in the reality of Yeshua in our midst and may we make Him known by living lives of devotion to G-d and walking in the way of Torah.
